Over the last
week, thousands of frustrated Americans gathered at state capitols
in Michigan, Ohio, California, Minnesota, and other states to protest
stay-at-home orders from totalitarian progressive leaders such as Governor Gretchen
Whitmer of Michigan, who argue that the lockdowns are crucial to containing the coronavirus. But with
literally tens of millions of Americans losing their jobs and their businesses,
and the economy collapsing with the worst possibly to come, Americans are
legitimately complaining that the draconian cure is shaping up to be worse than
the disease.
Speaker of the
House and nepotism-enthusiast Nancy Pelosi decried the
protesters, of course: “What they're doing is really unfortunate,” she
condescended. “What we have to do is, is, is shelter in place.” That’s easy for
her to say. While Pelosi (who as of last year has a net worth of over $120
million) “shelters in place” in her San Francisco mansion that features a $24,000
refrigerator stocked with gourmet ice cream, her constituents are losing
their livelihoods and life savings. Her nephew-by-marriage Gov. Gavin Newsom,
California’s answer to Justin Trudeau, said
he will not be swayed by public protests in deciding when he will reopen the
state: “We are going to do the right thing: not judge by politics, not judge by
protests, but by science.” Of course, what the left means by “science” is “science
that conforms to our political agenda,” because progressives reject any scientific
conclusions that present them with inconvenient truths.
President Trump
has encouraged the demonstrations, calling last Friday for the citizens of Minnesota,
Michigan and Virginia, specifically, to be “liberated.” This kind of language didn’t sit well with the totalitarian left; race-mongering
MSNBC propagandist Joy Reid, for example, called
it “faux-Confederate.”
Saturday on
MSNBC’s AM Joy, host Reid discussed the nationwide protests with fellow
Victimhood Propagandist, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, who also compared the protesters to the
Confederacy and claimed hyperbolically that President Trump is “literally
willing to sacrifice the lives of Americans for personal gain.”
Reid asked Ellison,
“When you hear Donald Trump talking in this sort of faux-Confederate language
about these lockdown orders – which are meant to save lives – and you see
people with these insta-protests, paid for by activists for the super-rich,
egging on this kind of activity that could get violent, what does that say to
you?”
First, none of the
protests did turn violent, because it is not right-wing protesters who riot and
wreak havoc, but leftists; conservative protesters don’t even leave
behind litter. Second, the protests were not “insta-protests” funded by the
super-rich (Reid offered no evidence for her claim). They were genuine expressions
of outrage by working class American citizens fed up with having their
constitutional freedoms infringed upon by petty totalitarians in office who
leapt at the opportunity not to save lives, but to impose their power over the
lives of others. Third, trying to connect the word “liberate” to the
Confederacy is just ludicrous (and in any case, the Southern slave-owners were
Democrat). Reid’s question wasn’t actually a question at all, but an ugly condemnation
of the protesters as violent racists.
“It says to me
that the President is willing to risk the lives of people who believe in him so
that he can have advantages like re-election and things like that,” Ellison
replied inarticulately. “He’s literally willing to sacrifice the lives of
Americans for personal gain and that’s deeply disturbing to me. It’s not new.
How many people who fell on the Confederate side owned massive plantations? Not
that many. They bought themselves out of having to fight for their slavocracy,
that poor whites died for them and so, you know, it’s not a new story, right?”
Again with the
Confederacy comparisons. You have to admire the left’s unrelenting ability to bypass
logic and facts and connect everything to their Victimhood Narrative. The stay-at-home
order protests have nothing to do with racism or oppressing anyone; indeed, it
is oppression they are fighting. The only lives being sacrificed are those of
Americans who are having their livelihoods gutted not so much by the
coronavirus itself as by the totalitarian overreach of progressive leaders who
are seizing upon this crisis to cut the legs out of what had been President
Trump’s booming economy, until the pandemic hit.
“It’s disturbing.
It’s sad. And I pray for those people because, even though I disagree
absolutely with these protests, I think they’re completely and entirely
inappropriate, I know that they and their loved ones will pay an awful price.” I
find it hard to believe that Ellison, a Muslim who supports Muslim Brotherhood legacy groups in
America like the Council on
American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of
North America, and who has defended the Occupy Wall Street anarchists, anti-Semite
Louis Farrakhan, and murdering leftist icons like Mumia Abu Jamal and Assata Shakur, is
praying for Trump-supporting protesters against leftist tyranny.
Progressives are fine
with their shock troops of Antifa rampaging through
city streets, causing tens of thousands
of dollars of property damage and assaulting innocents. Media enablers like CNN
blowhard Chris Cuomo publicly defend those thugs but scorned the
peaceful Tea Party movement as scary racists. Leftists are fine with the
Communist Chinese regime brutally shutting down the pro-American, pro-democracy
protesters in Hong Kong. They’re fine with protesters using threats,
disruption, and intimidation to shut down conservative speakers on campus. They’re
fine with screeching, chanting protesters disrupting Supreme Court nominee
confirmation hearings or Black Lives Matter protesters chanting “Pigs in a
blanket, fry ‘em like bacon!” They’re fine with open borders activists and
illegal aliens smashing police
cars
and demanding the abolishment of ICE. But if law-abiding protesters gather in
public to call for an end to big government clamping down on their
constitutional rights, then the left swiftly unites to dismiss them as racist.
That’s because progressives
prioritize power above all else – unlike conservatives, who prioritize freedom
and the rights of all. And with all due respect to those Americans suffering
from the coronavirus itself, it is our freedom and rights that are ultimately
at stake in this pandemic.
